Rising power prices send people shopping for cheaper suppliers

A recent survey of domestic power prices shows residential power prices in all regions have increased by a national average of $64 in the last year. Noticing an increase in my own monthly bill sent me hunting for a quick way to find out if my supplier is the most affordable in my area.

After a quick Google search I headed over to Consumer Powerswitch to check if I could save money by switching to a new supplier.

"Powerswitch works out which power company and pricing plan is best for you. Using our comprehensive database of electricity and gas prices, it's easy to compare plans and find the cheapest deal in your area."

To get started you just need to grab your most recent power bill and enter a few details in the Savings calculator to get a list of suppliers and plans available and how much your average annual costs would be if you switch.

You can compare suppliers and plans plus hit the SWITCH button to be taken to each suppliers' website and switch there and then. Now I'm not too impulsive when it comes to this kind of decision but the details on offer certainly provide everything I need to make an informed decision. Well, not quite everything, they don't tell me which supplier generates more sustainable energy, maybe that's a new feature they could add to the site...
