Turning a beeswax wrap into a work of art

Honeywrap

An internationally renowned Kiwi artist and a group of entrepreneurial mums have combined forces to create something spectacular.

Media release from Honeywrap

Created by three Kiwi mums on a mission to reduce waste, Honeywrap keeps your food fresh and makes your lunch look amazing. Made with 100% organic cotton, beeswax and other natural preservatives, they are reusable for up to a year, then can be thrown in the compost.

This year, the mums behind Honeywrap decided to approach the amazingly talented Hayley King – AKA Flox, one of New Zealand’s most recognisable contemporary artists. She has created a limited edition, nature-inspired piece to brighten up any lunch or barbecue table, which will debut on 10th October.

Flox for Honeywrap features Flox’s signature flora and fauna artistry with a unique twist. Only 2,000 of the limited edition print will be available for sale in stores around New Zealand including Off the Wall Gallery, Moore Wilsons Verandah- Waiheke and Ecostore as well as online at honeywrap.co.nz.

Flox said the inspiration behind her design was “something kiwi inspired, with Honeywrap being a local business, and something nature inspired adding to the Honeywrap philosophy of zero waste! I also wanted to design something that was playful looking, so when the kids go to grab their food from their school lunch boxes, they’ve got a really colourful and inspired looking lunch!"

She added that it was a great project to be involved in because, “I also have kids, and it’s so satisfying not using plastic bags or glad wrap every school day!”

Flox is incredibly passionate about sustainability, and was thrilled to be asked to create a bespoke design for something she truly believed in.

Entrepreneurial mum and co-founder of Honeywrap, Tara Strahan, said she was ecstatic when Flox agreed to create beautiful designs for Honeywrap.

“Flox’s designs are stunning, and it has been great to have her on board with Honeywrap. We really wanted to collaborate with someone who is as passionate about protecting the environment as we are.”

She added it was a fantastic feeling, seeing the design process and then seeing the completed product in person.

“Seeing the design for the first time was really fantastic, and I’m so excited to watch Flox for Honeywrap fly off the shelves.”

Flox for Honeywrap are ideal gifts for people who love food, entertaining and beautiful design. The fact that they’re good for the environment is just a fantastic bonus!

Each Honeywrap saves an average of 75 metres of plastic going to landfill or our oceans, based on school lunches for a year – in fact, so far over 2.6 million metres of plastic wrap has been prevented from ending up in landfill, or our oceans, thanks to people using these bright, funky wraps.
