Would you switch brands for sustainability?Reader submitted

A new survey from the Sustainable Business Council and Fairfax Media revealed two-thirds of consumers would switch brands if their regular brand or service provider was having a bad effect on the environment, people or society, or behaving unethically.

I know for me these are certainly factors in my purchase decisions and I have switched several brands to more sustainable and eco-friendly options. Factors like price and availability still come into play, they need to when you have three kids!!

So my question to you is: Have you switched brands for sustainability and what are your favourite sustainable brands?

If you'd like to read the full report it's available here.

Definitely. I've slowly changed cleaners (including laundry and kitchen) and am now in the process of changing toiletries. I only buy Fairtrade coffee and try to buy Fairtrade chocolate. But yes, I'd love to switch more (especially to organic) but price is a factor in reality.

I am the same as kiwilassee's comment above. I have changed all cleaners etc plus soaps and hair products, plus buy Fairtrade coffee/chocolate and attempt to buy any presents from the trade aid shops, as well as local craftspeople at markets and galleries to support our own people and economy as well as creativity. I too would like to do more organic stuff, so do when I can but price holds me back half the time.

As I see more products that are Fairtrade and Oxfam supported come out, I will support them. The more available the better. :)
